Xcalak is a small village in the southern region of Quintana Roo in Mexico, just north of the Belize Cayes. It is one of the last few, unspoiled regions of the Caribbean Mexican coast and as a result, there are minimal dive centers - but this only adds to the charm and feeling of exclusivity. Diving in Xcalak is excellent, as the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef passes just offshore, creating abundant opportunities to dive this vibrant, thriving and pleasantly shallow reef. It is also a jumping off point for the natural atoll of Banco Chinchorro which also has excellent diving. There are also shallow wrecks to explore and intermediate drift dives.
