About Maltaqua
Maltaqua has over four decades of experience as a dive center on Malta with accommodation, ensuring that you will receive professional education, training, and a true technical diving adventure.
Maltaqua was founded in 1970 by Mike and Agnes Upton, both CMAS National Instructors, PADI Staff Instructors, and BSAC Advanced Instructors who have both logged thousands of dives since they started diving in 1968. Both are teachers by profession so diver training has always been of particular interest to them.
In the 50 years that Maltaqua has been one of Europe's leading dive bases, it has serviced tens of thousands of clients and trained thousands of divers and hundreds of highly skilled instructors. We have always strived to improve the range and quality of service we offer to our clients but always maintaining a policy of Safety First. Over the years our standards of safety and service have brought us worldwide recognition and acclaim.

Our dive school and dive shop is open Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 16:00.
We are located at the entrance of St Pauls Bay, just after Nicks petrol station. If you have booked to stay in our apartment accommodation at Sands, then we are just 100meters away, so please walk up to meet your Instructor for 08:00.
If English is not your main language, we do have Instructors who speak a number of languages, so do let us know if you have a preference as we may have someone whom you will feel more comfortable with.
There are small food stalls and snack bars at most dive sites, so you can grab a sandwich and drink between dives, please be sure to carry some change with you as these stalls do not have credit card facilities.
As we will be out for most of the day please do be sure to bring sun protection with you, so a hat, UV top, sunglasses and also if you have a refillable water bottle, do bring this with you as you can fill up at the dive center before leaving for the dives.
If you have booked to dive with us but need to change your booking, please let us know 24hours prior to the dive, otherwise you will still be charged for the dive.
We always recommend that divers have travel Insurance which covers you for your diving or diver training, in case you need to stop diving for any reason ( ear/sinus problems etc). In the unlikely event you need a medical certificate for Insurance purposes, then we do have a doctor on call who will come to see you at the centre.
